NYCO Esplanade Huayi Festival 2012

NYCO's performance at the Esplanade Huayi Festival held on the 30th and 31st of Jan at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre had just ended yesterday! :) Thank you all NYCO members and seniors and teachers who worked so hard for this performance as well as the all the support and encouragements from the rest of NYCO :DD

It had proved to be a fruitful, special, and really enjoyable experience for all of us :) And this is probably one of the rare chances which we have such a beautiful scenery (Singapore's Skyline! :D) as our stage's backdrop! :D

How are all your holidays going? :) Having fun? :D

As you all know, CCA has resumed, and just a reminder that the coming CCA practice is this Tuesday 15/11/2011 from 1.30-5pm (Xiaozu) and Thursday 17/11/2011 from 1.30-5pm (Xiaozu) :)

Here's a little preview of what's gonna happen next year for NYCO for you all to munch on! :)

1. Nanyang 95th Anniversary Musical.
As you all know, next year is Nanyang's 95th Anniversary, and the school will be organising a musical from the 15-18 August night :) However, only a limited no. of people will be involved >.<

2. Esplanade Huayi Festival 2012
Mrs Ee has accepted an invitation to the Huayi Festival held next year, 30 and 31 Jan. It will be at the Esplanade, an outdoor performance :)

3. No organising of NYCO's own concert >.<
Because of the musical, NYCO can't hold our own concert next year to prevent us from being overly stressed from managing too many events >.< But no worries! NYCO will still be able to have a fun and exciting 2012! :D

FOA and SYF presentation is over! The sec 4 are going to step down soon and a new committee is going to lead NYCO on a new chapter of the journey! ;p

So here are the list of nominees for '11-'12 committee! :D Interviews will begin on 11 August (break time). It will be on 11, 12 and 15 August. So please scroll down to note down your interview date and time and details that you will need to take note of! :)

2) The rest of the section will report outside the room AT the starting time except on Thursday after school as there is xiaozu. During xiaozu, after the first person is interviewed, she can leave and notify the fourth/fifth person, so on and so forth.

Hi NYCO!

As tomorrow is nomination for comm 2011-2012, here are the roles and responsibilities for each comm member. Please read through all carefully and decide carefully who to nominate for each post tomorrow.

President (Sec 3) & Vice-President 1 (Sec 3)
The president is the main source of administrative support and leads NYCO with the support of the EXCO. She should have ample organisation skills and be an effective leader. The VP1 provides the president support and should be equally capable. It is important that the President and VP1 work well together and compliment each other. Both will often work with the teachers in charge, EXCO and CO, so good communication skills are a must. They are effectively the bridge of communication between the teachers and CO. These 2 roles require a lot of commitment and responsibility towards NYCO.

Vice-President 2 (Sec 2)
The VP2 is the president understudy. She will support the President and VP1 and learn the essentials to leading a CO well through various leadership opportunities along the way. She is also the main key holder for NYCO’S practice rooms.

Secretary (Sec 3) & Assistant Secretary (Sec 2)
The secretaries are responsible for taking, sorting through and collating everyone’s attendance during daily practices, recording meeting minutes and many other administrative duties. These posts can prove to be very demanding, so our secretaries have to be really on-task and efficient.

Treasurer (Sec 2 or 3)
Money is a big responsibility, especially for a CCA with so many people. Of course, she is in charge of the CO funds and is responsible for collecting and keeping the large amounts of money (e.g. for food, SYF photos, etc). The treasurer has to be clear-headed and very precise in what she does.

Manager of General Affairs (Sec 2 or 3)
The MGA is mainly in charge of our logistical and welfare needs. She has to make sure that we have food to eat, uniforms to wear and proper (and clean!) chairs, music stands and practice venues to use! CO Camp and Orientation also involve important planning duties of the MGA. The MGA should be a consistent person who is meticulous with her work.

Scores in-charge (2 people, Sec 2 or 3)
The scores you receive every time we begin on a new piece are prepared by our scores in-charge! The CO library (in the tuning room, if you didn't know) is also organised by the scores in-charge. It's hard work to get all of the part scores copied out and printed for everyone, so you'll need some stamina to take up this post. Being able to read stave notation (五线谱) and transpose is also a plus.

Section Leaders (1 for each section + 1 ASL for Xianyue)
The section leaders are one of the most important roles in the CO! They oversee the administrative matters of the section, as well as their section's training, technical performance and welfare. SLs should be able to positively influence, motivate their sections and promote bonding amongst sections (+integrate the Sec 1s). (: They should also be responsible, efficient in disseminating information and constantly aware of what is going on in the section.

Student Conductor
The student conductor oversees the musical performance of the orchestra when our conductor is not around (e.g. conducting for open house, orientations etc) and conduct the tuning before every dazu. She is usually selected by Mrs Ee, but if you're interested, you could nominate yourself too.

Each and every role is important! :) Most important is to LOVE NYCO <3

Hi NYCO!

NANYANG FESTIVAL OF ARTS HAS BEGUN! :D (after the grand launch^^) Anyway, as mentioned in our briefing last Thursday, the FOA fringe activities will be held from 11-15 July, before school, during breaks and after school. Hi NYCO! Here is how we're gonna clear the stage for the FOA Gala Concert. As all performers have to be OFFSTAGE (out of the auditorium) in 30sec, we have to be REALLY REALLY QUICK. We only have one technical run-through on 7th July so please be clear of what you have to do.

YELLOWl Performers that have to clear 2 chairs (the 2 chairs in the bubble)
GREEN: Performers that have to hold 2-4 instruments
RED: 4 performers that have to shift the conoductor's podium to the front of stage left
ORANGE: 1 performer that have to move the conductor's music stand out of the audi

Anyway, here are some stuff about singapore that you all should know! :)

ABOUT SINGAPORE:

Singapore is an urbanised city-state that is part of Southeast Asia. It is located at the southern tip of the Malayan Peninsula between Malaysia and Indonesia (quoted from Wikipedia). Singapore is as big as the size of Chicago (around 646 square kilometers), around 3.5 times more than the size of Washington DC (so you get a rough idea how big/small singapore is)

Singapore has a population of 4740737 (as of July 2011) and is a multiracial society. There are about 76.8% of Chinese, 13.9% of Malays, 7.9% of Indians and 1.4% of other races.

Singapore is governed by the People's Action Party (the government type is parliamentary republic) and we celebrate National Day on 9 August every year.

I think this is a very very brief intro about Singapore but as Singaporeans, I'm sure you all know a lot more and if you really want (or should I say, you should), go research about Singapore on the internet. If you find anything very interesting, you can post it here! ^^

ABOUT LANDMARKS IN SINGAPORE (EG ESPLANADE AND SINGAPORE CONFERENCE HALL)

ESPLANADE:

The Esplanade-Theatres of the Bay, often known as the 'durians' is located near Marina Bay and the Singapore River. It was built to be the centre for performing arts for the island nation of Singapore. It contains a Concert Hall, Theatre, Recital Studio, Theatre Studio and some others (eg the Library).

The Concert Hall is a venue for concert, recitals and performances. It is able to seat about 1600 people over four levels. The concert hall also has a pipe organ, comprising 4740 pipes and 61 stops.

The theatre has a capacity of about 2000 seats and its arrangement is an adaptation of a horseshoe form of a traditional European opera house.

The recital studio is able to seat 245 people and is mainly used for chamber musical performances, such as piano recital.

The theatre studio has a capacity of 220 and is mainly used for experimental theatre and dance presentation.

SINGAPORE CONFERENCE HALL:

The Singapore Conference Hall was built as a venue for large-scale conferences in Singapore. It has witnessed numerous international conference and political events. However, it is also the permanent venue for rehearsals and performances by the Singapore Chinese Orchestra.

The concert hall can provide 848 seats in total. It is mainly used for musical performances, conferences, seminars and graduation ceremonies.

There is also a sectional practice hall and 15 individual music studios located at Level 2. The sectional practice hall has floor area equal to the Concert Hall stage area and can be separated into three rooms when needed.

As you all know already (you SHOULD KNOW!), our SCH rehearsal is this monday, 21 March. Here is the schedule and some details that you ought to be aware about!

1045	Everyone is released for LUNCH BREAK	We will confirm with your SLs on Monday morning if we can get chicken rice directly from the canteen. If we cannot get it (you will be informed), grab your own lunch, eat quickly.
1115-1130	LOA begins. 调音 will take place in M401. Everyone must be seated by 1130 SHARP.	Make your way to M401 immediately after you have taken your lunch. Start tuning and SLs are in charge of 对音 for your section. (Please take this extremely seriously). All must be ready and seated by 1130 for our warm up. Please revise and go through everything Mrs Ee has said for the past 5 months so that when you play, you will not forget all these details.
1130-1200 latest	Warm up with Mrs Ee begins.	We will start EXACTLY AT 1130. Please be serious at all times of the practice, remain silent, be in the right state and mood.
1200-1230	All bulky instruments to be moved to the auditorium. Other sections to change into CO uniform and court shoes.	CO members with instruments that needs to be moved to SCH by the truck are to move the instruments down to the auditorium quickly. The remaining CO members can change into CO uniform and court shoes and prepare ourselves for “the day”
1230-1300	The truck arrives at 1230. All instruments to be moved onto the truck.
1245	All to meet at auditorium.	ALL CO MEMBERS TO BE AT AUDITORIUM WAITING TO BOARD THE BUS. Please wait patiently and remain quiet so that we can get things done as fast as possible.
1300	LEAVE NYGH! We begin the 21 March JOURNEY! :DDDDDDDDD	IN THE BUS: Go through your parts and what Mrs Ee have said previously. Think about how you treat the rehearsal at SCH. You can relax and enjoy the beginning of our journey but don’t get overly high in the bus. :O

hi juniors!
just thought of giving you all some encouragement after popping by practice this afternoon. firstly, when i heard 'journey', i was really touched by it. The melody is really nice and i think you all played it well. It brought back memories of my journey with nyco for the past 4 years. Many of you once said that without us, seniors, you all are all going to die. But today, I saw all of you ALIVE! haha. not only alive, and I think you all are surviving really well and put in lots and lots of effort into this syf. of course, there are definitely room for improvement and there is still time for improvement too. Having so many practices during this syf period sometimes is really tiring and you will feel like skipping practices. But pls don't do this. In less than 50 days, you all are going to present your results to the judges. I truely believe that my juniors are great and will achieve what you all aimed. you all are juniors that I am really proud of. all the way and keep nyco shining! ^^

Do watch the video, ESP CHUIDA!! :D NYCO, you all can help us shout "hey" at the percussion solo part ('cause the hall acoustic is very bad and we might not be loud enoughD: )! haha you can see all the people opening their mouth at 3:19-3:25. :)

A note to chuida! Notice how the orchestra manage to portray and capture the lively atmosphere okay! Oh and the starting can be more broad! ^^ (Wen Di will send an email with more details!)

As Woon Yee mentioned in the earlier post! I'm sure everyone had loads of fun during nyco camp 2010! For those who left early, remember to get your amazing race prizes from your group/section! Or else...they will go to...YOU-KNOW-WHO! heh heh! Yup DON'T FORGET!

AND TO THE SEC 4s! WE REALLY HOPE YOU ALL HAD A FUN TIME DURING SEC 4 FAREWELL! HOPE YOU ALL FEEL SO PROUD TO BE PART OF NYCO DURING THE GRAND ENTRANCE (hehe) TO M4 AND THAT YOU WILL LIKE THE GIFTS WE MADE FOR YOU! NYCO LOVE YOU ALL FOREVER! :p

Yup hope the seniors enjoyed everything NYCO has prepared for you all! :D

*slight change of mood*

SYF approaching in less than 4 months! So we will need to put in extra effort and be 100% more focused in dazu and xiaozu than we are now! Here are some tips and reminders to keep everyone going strongly, bravely and with energy!!!

1. Sleep at least 8h everyday, just like Garfield! :o

2. Practice! And concentrate when you are practicing! Try to find different ways of practicing and see which way(s) work best for you. Should you start by familiarizing with your part? Is slow practice effective for certain parts of the piece? (Think about it and try it out)

"Practice makes perfect!"

(just change the piano to your instrument ^^)

3. Pay 101% of your attention to the comments that are made by Mrs Ee in dazu, even if it does not involve your section! It does make a big difference!

AND REMEMBER TO LOOK AT MRS EE DURING DAZU!
(recall the consequences of staring at your scores! D: )

4. Drink plenty of water and stay in the pink of health! This seems really out of point yet it is really important to everyone! If we stay healthy, CO will have better attendance = possibly better progress in dazu (compared to a poorly-attended dazu)

*slurp* and the best thing is..you realize that water taste really nice!

5. Stay positive and happy! Don't be overly relaxed yet at the same time, there's no need to be overly worried! It is normal for everyone to meet into difficulties along the way (in fact it will seem abnormal if everything just happens so smoothly and as planned). So face all the challenges you meet during xiaozu/dazu/own practice bravely as there will be a light at the end of the tunnel!

(HMM...I hope this picture illustrates what I'm saying...anyway I'm sure everyone gets what I mean! :D)

If we make a mistake, climb back up onto the journey! It's okay to feel sad initially but after that period, stand up, don't give up, learn from your mistakes along the way and set new expectations for yourself! If you need help, ask anyone around you! I'm sure everyone will be more than willing to help you out!

SO LET'S ALL WORK HARD TOGETHER AND PUT IN OUR BEST IN EVERY PRACTICE! LET EVERYONE HEAR THE MUSIC FROM OUR HEARTS! JIAYOU JIAYOU JIAYOU FOR SYF!

Please inform your Laoshi about the xiaozu practice time and huibao schedule during camp. The arrangement for huibao this year is slightly different compared to previous years so that it is more convenient for our laoshi. Thus, they are strongly encouraged to watch huibao this year, especially since it will be in the auditorium! Your section Laoshi can support his/her section and understand the section strength and weaknesses through the performances too!

So here are the details!

Xiaozu: 14 Dec, 1330-1630 (the venue is as per normal)

Huibao:

15 Dec, 1530-1800
Auditorium
Dizi, Shengsuo, Xianyue, Pipa, Yangqin

16 Dec, 1045-1200 and 1300-1400
Auditorium
Cellobass, Ruanliu, Percussion

*In case the instruments above confuse you, it just means that the huibao will be by CO members playing this instruments!

For the 16 Dec huibao session, there will be a lunch break from 1200-1300.

Seniors can come back to support their juniors too! The huibao list will be put up on the notice board on the first day of camp so in the meantime, everyone jiayou for huibao! Practice hard and just do your best on these two days (+january too of course)! :D Do remember to prepare an introduction (that will let the audience understand the piece slightly better) for your huibao!

NYCO Committee ’10 –’11 Nominations

Hi everyone! As promised, uploaded here is an overview of the job scopes of the various posts in the NYCO committee! J

President (Sec 3)

Assist the Teachers-in-charge as well as our conductors (Mrs Ee and 林老师) in admin matters
Main source of administrative support of the whole committee.
Takes consideration into all aspects of CO regardless of admin, welfare or logistics.
Qualities of a President of NYCO
- Should have ample organisation skills and be an effective leader.
- Have good foresight (to prepare for upcoming events)
- Good Time Management
- MUST BE VERY VERY VERY COMMITTED to NYCO
- Decisive – be able to address (all sorts!) problems in a short time!

President '09 – '10: Chew Lixian (Sec 4)

Vice-President 1 (Sec 3)

Assist the President; Job scopes similar to the Presidents'.
Equally as important as the important
Needless to say, VPs are there to help the president. VPs have to be proactive especially in helping the president, because their suggestions are the best gauge for the president.
In this case, it is IMPORTANT that the president and the VP can work well together.
Gives the president support and help à should be equally capable.
Both president and VP1 will often work with the teachers in charge, committee and CO, so good communication skills are a must.

Vice-President 2 (Sec 2)

President understudy
- exposed to the usual planning that a president has to deal with.
- learn the essentials to leading a CO well through various leadership opportunities
- In charge of all the keys to our CO practice venues (m401 – m403 and level 4 classroom keys)

NOTE: Neither should be too involved in external commitments as these 2 roles can be time-consuming (i.e. you should have enough time to spend on school work, CO, your hobbies and yourself).

VP1 '09 – ' 10: Denise Yeo Jia Qi (Sec 4), VP2 '09 – '10': Lim Woon Yee (Sec 3)

Secretaries

Our secretaries play a vital role in our CO! They are:

Responsible for taking attendance during practices, recording meeting minutes and handling many other administrative duties (like collating the holiday schedules of each and every one of you!).
Qualities needed for a secretary
- On-task and efficeient – demanding job to handle such a HUGE group of people!
- Fast and precise – to take down notes for minutes during meetings
- Fast, fast and FAST!

Even taking attendance, they have to be fast or it will take up a lot of time during practice.

Meticulous and careful!

They have to keep track of everybody's attendance, making sure that absentees submit their excuse letters or MC, and be able to note if someone is frequently absent ><

Secretary '09-'10: Eva Kong Yuet Man (408);

Asst. Secretary 1: Shi Chen (310), Asst. Secretary 2: Hee Jia Min (301)

Treasurer

Our treasurer is also very important! Of course, she:

Deals with $$$MONEY!$$$ :D
In charge of the CO funds and is responsible for collecting money (e.g. for food during camps, games day etc, SYF photos, and for concert ticket sales etc).

Qualities of a treasurer

For instance when there is an upcoming concert, she will have to collect the money and distribute the tickets to the people who ordered tics.
Have to be clear-headed - as she has to deal with large sums of money, because CO is a super big group of CCA.
Money is a big responsibility, especially for a CCA with so many people

Treasurer '09-'10: Rachel Lim Kay Yee

Manager of General Affairs

Mainly in charge of the logistical and welfare needs of the orchestra.
Make sure that we have food to eat, uniforms to wear and proper chairs, music stands and practice venues to use! (This includes taking care of cleanliness of all the venues CO uses...)
Assign tasks to the people in the orchestra, such that all of us accomplish them together (so don't worry about having to tank everything up if you are the MGA)
Ensures that everybody has a good instrument to use, costume to wear and is in charge of instrument loans from other schools.
The MGA should be a consistent person who is meticulous with her work J

MGA '09 – '10: Rachel Tan Rui Qi

Welfare Coordinator '09-'10: Sylvia Tang

Scores In-Charge

The scores you receive every time we begin on a new piece are prepared by our scores in-charge! (jin shang etc). The CO library (in the tuning room, if you didn't know) is also organised by the scores in-charge. So, in all, the scores IC is in charge of:

Photocopying scores for all of you!
Copying scores/ coordinating people to help copy scores for every respective instruments
Making sure the 总谱 is updated after Mrs Ee rectifies a mistake in the scores.

Qualities of a Scores IC

Requires stamina to copy scores for EVERY instrument!
Being able to read stave notation (五线谱) and transpose (highly preferred!)

Scores I/C '09 –'10: Lee Wen Di, Lee Wen Li, Liu Shi Jia

Sectional Leaders

One of the most important roles in the CO!
Oversee administrative matters of the section, as well as the section's technical performance and welfare.
- Collate section stuff (collect ticket orders, collect CO funds etc)
- In charge of disseminating information to members!
- Lead sectionals (when instructor is not around); Arrange lunch sectionals etc!
Qualities a SL should have:
- Responsible
- Have a passion for NYCO!
- Optimistic – to positively influence their sections and promote bonding among sections. (:
- Sensitive to member's needs!
- Misconceptions – SL is not necessarily the PRO-est member in the section.

Most importantly, the SL must be able to LEAD the section to greater heights (not just music, but also the rapport).

Without your SL, your section will 'lose direction' and the CO will be affected. In other words, the word 'SL' ties very closely with the growth of the section.

Sectional Leaders '09 – '10:

Amanda Lim Jia Ying (Pipa), Song Yang (Ruan), Jeslyn Keng (Liuqin), Chua Wang Jia (弦乐) , Lim Yu Shan (ASL of 弦乐), Goh Xiao You Yuka (Yangqin), Lim Wei Shan (Percussion), Zheng Xiaohan (Sheng), Goh Hui Pin (Suona), Victoria Tan (Dizi), Gong Yuan (Cellobass),

Student Conductor

Don't be misled that all the current Sec 3 understudy positions in committee will definitely be promoted to become the official post. So please do not vote according to understudies. Vote based on who you think has the potential in the position.

Actually, the qualities of all the posts in the committee boils down to one: Passion for NYCO! <3 With passion, actually anything and EVERYTHING is possible! Hello everyone, our annual Committee elections are coming up this Friday, 11th June! Hohoho, are you excited?

Nominations for the next Comm 2010-2011 will be held on 11th June (Games day), after lunch, at M401 :D

Just some insights:

The Committee is made up of a team of approx. 20 people who come together to address mainly NYCO admin matters. They lead the Orchestra to greater heights in terms of both Music and Teamwork. They also play an important role in bridging the gap in between the CO members and the teachers I/C. Some activities this '10-'11 Committee will be in charge of will include our annual CO camp (14-16 Dec '10), Sec one orientation, CNY celebrations, and also, preparations for SYF.

These events might seem very faraway and miniscule, but they require some degrees of planning, and hence are important. :)

This is a very prestigious event, so we really really really hope that all of you will treat this nominations seriously :)

This year's elections are slightly different from last year's: ALL members (Sec 1s to 4s) will be nominating this time round! :D

Sec 1s are allowed to vote for their respective sectional leader(s).
Sec 2-4s can nominate their fellow members of the Orchestra (who are currently Sec 2 or 3) for posts in the Committee.

HELLO NYCO!

I'm really glad to have gone back for a short while today, even though I got caught by Mrs Ee while trying to sneak into M4-01. Oops.

You know, that one hour just watching dazu for me was like therapy. When you've been gone from co for too long, you really, really miss it. I haven't played in a co for 2 years. The last I played was alumni item for nyco concert in 2008. And I really miss being in an orchestra.

And nyco concert is coming soon. Nope, I'm not here to guilt trip any of you, or to even tell you to practice. Because I know, I believe, that all of you will do that yourselves. Today, I just want to share with you my heart for nyco. It's pretty weird because I don't really like talking about how I feel or anything, but there's so much within me I really hope to share.

To one who has graduated from ny some 4 years ago (ouch, I suddenly feel very old haha), it's always a joy to go back to visit. It's really not about wanting to listen to good music, because if it's for the music, we'll just attend concerts and not go for practices. It's not about seeing juniors because we miss them, even. It's also essentially not about going back to see Mrs Ee, although I admit I do get a kick out of seeing her conduct. The reason I want to go back, when I can, is because it brings me joy to see how nyco keeps going, year after year. People change, batches graduate one after another. But even though the people in nyco change each year, every year, it's still the same spirit I see when I go back. Every year, there is a bunch of people still striving for excellence for nyco. It doesn't matter whether it's concert or syf year - it's the same every year. You want to do well. You want to play well. You don't just want to play well - you want to play music. You want to move people with your music.

Of course, every year, there are reasons for why one ought to play well too. We hear it often. "Let's play well so we don't let Mrs Ee or our seniors down! Let's play well to show people what nyco is about!"

I hope that all of you will do well too.

But it's really not about the seniors, or Mrs Ee (despite all the sacrifices she has made for us, yes), and not even about the name of the orchestra.
It's about you - each and every one of you.

The thing about people is that we have memories. And many of you will move on after graduating from nyco. But even years after you have left the co, I can safely say that you will still look back, once in a while, to the times in nyco. Whether you come back to visit or not, whether you are crazy and come back often, or never ever come back again, possibly, you will still look back once in a while to your times in nyco. Trust me on this, it will always be bugging you, one way or another, once in a while.

But what do I mean by the point that it's about you?

It's about you because, years later, when you look back, what sort of memories do you want to have? By memories, I don't mean whether the co has done well overall or not. Sure, that will be part of your memories too, but what I'm concerned about here is you. When you look back, will be looking back with joy that you have been part of the orchestra, that you played a role in making the orchestra what it is, not just in your time, but also in the future? Or will it be the case where you will look back with a tinge of regret, knowing that the orchestra might be good, but you have really not done anything much to be part of what it is?

This is my heart for the orchestra, for everyone of you. That you will be proud that you are (and were, in the future) part of nyco, not just in name, but also in spirit. The 4 years in nyco were some of the greatest years for me. I hope that that will be the case for you too.

Sometimes time seems to pass really slowly, especially during lessons. But it passes much faster than you think. My wish is that you will really make use of the time to have to establish a legacy - not just for the sake of the orchestra, but for the sake of yourself. What you do and the legacy you leave to your juniors isn't just going to affect the orchestra, but it's also going to affect you. Hey, you don't have much time left in nyco. Make full use of it.

I love nyco with all my heart, and I know many of you do too. Don't just love it in feeling ok, make what you do count. And I know that concert 2010 is going to be part of the (Y) memories for you in nyco. Jiayou! Make this concert matter not just for seniors, Mrs Ee, or others. Make it matter -and happen- for yourself too.

And I'm always ready to support all of you with food. Cool?

it is 69 days to our concert.
nyco concert is once every two years.
which means that in your 4 years in nyco,
the largest possible number of time you can perform in nyco concert is TWICE.
if your first concert is sec2, your last one is in sec4.
if you are damn freaking good, your first concert is sec1 and your last is sec3.
i am not saying that you cannot come back and perform for alumni item.
but the thing is that...do you still have the time?
will you still feel the same as when you are in nygh and promoting for your own cca concert.
asking your friends to come and support.
when your friends ask you,
'why go nyco concert? very ex leh! very good meh?'
this kind of questions.
i wonder what will you all answer them.
for me,
if they ask me that,
i will tell them
'of course it is good! come and watch and listen to us. i confirm you that it will be damn freaking good.'
maybe i will even add in 'and i am performing!'

let me ask all of you.
who wish to tell your friends that nyco's standard is damn lousy now.
don't waste your money.
cause our music like shit.
or even saying that 'you will defintely fall asleep.'

I DON'T WANT TO SAY THAT TO MY FRIENDS.

if you think that concert is still damn far away,
you are totally wrong
it is 3 weeks to end of term 2.
4 weeks of holiday.
and the 3rd week of term 3 is our concert!

all of us are tired when there are pracs 3 times a week.
now that blocks are over,
and the next block is after our concert,
why can't we just TREASURE ALL our pracs?!
why can't we just PAY ATTENTION during ALL our pracs?!
why can't we just put in MORE EFFORT in practicing before ALL our pracs?!
why can't we just keep stop doing so much of our own stuffs and listen to the conductor durong ALL our pracs?
we are all going to get our holiday scheduele soon...
dazu pracs countdown will start.
we are countdowing and days...
and it already seems so near to some of us already.

it is tiring.
SLs keep nagging at us to practice,
our dear pres and v-pres keep reminding us to treasure all practices.
conductors hoping that our next practice will be better.
this are all because they are worried.
worried of whether we can really be up to our standard on the 17 july.
nyco = triple GWH sch.
think about their worries.
think about our concert.
think about what YOU can do to make this concert a successful one.
if you are tired,
what about the comm?
what about our teachers-in-charge?
what about our conductors?
so...

nyco.
let's all work hard towards 17 july.
let's all work hard so that we can tell people that we are good .
let's all work hard such that we can PROMISE people that we are good.
let's all work hard to show all those people who paid to watch us that we are good.
because nyco is good.
we are simply awesome
provided that we all work hard.

last but not least,
don't stop loving nyco.
it's the love for nyco that keeps us all together.

i don't know if all these that i say apply to everyone.
but,
continue to love nyco,
continue to work hard
and we will make our concert a successful one.

As you all know, 2010 is coming! :) So, we have NEW juniors coming in very soon! But first, we need to encourage them to sign up for our CCA! The CCA exibition is on 4th Jan, first day of school. There will be no need for any performing as we have the mini-concert for the Sec Ones. :) Here are the details for the CCA Exhibition:

All Sec 2s and 3s who did not attend the committee nomination session today are to look for me at the 409 classroom (science block 3rd floor, nearest to labs) by Thursday, July 16. If you do not do so, your right to nominate anyone will be compromised. Thanks.
